Jackson, MS—A mother and her daughter have been arrested and charged with exploitation of a vulnerable person in Hinds County today, announced Attorney General Jim Hood.
Brenda Gayle Freeman, 53 , and her daughter Nakedra Freeman, 26 , of Jackson were arrested today by investigators of the Attorney General’s Vulnerable Adult Unit. The mother/daughter duo is charged with exploiting in excess of $30,000 from an elderly lady for whom they served as caretakers. The victim passed away earlier this year.
The Freemans were booked at the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond and bond set at $5,000 bond each. If convicted, they face up to 10 years each behind bars.
As with all cases, the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
This case is being investigated by Perry Tate and will be prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General I. Mikell Buckley of the Attorney General’s Public Integrity Division/Vulnerable Adults Unit.
