FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jackson, MS - A Pass Christian man will spend 15 years behind bars for possessing child pornography, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Paul Dybas, 48, of Pass Christian appeared before Judge Lisa Dodson today in Harrison County Circuit Court to be sentenced after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.  Judge Dodson sentenced Dybas to 40 years, with 15 to serve.  He must also register as a sex offender upon his release.  Upon sentencing, the Judge told the defendant that he had a serious addiction that caused her great concern.

“We appreciate Judge Dodson taking such a strong stance on this sentencing,” said Attorney General Hood.  “A child is abused every single time a picture is downloaded and viewed.  We will lock-up those who victimize our children.”

The Attorney General’s investigation revealed that Dybas had downloaded thousands of pictures and images of child pornography.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, through the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted with this case.  Prosecution was handled by Special Assistant Attorney General Brandon Ogburn of the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit.
