Attorney General Opens New Southern District Office

Jackson, MS—Attorney General Jim Hood today announced the new location for the Southern District Office of the Attorney General?s Office. The original offices were lost in Hurricane Katrina. The staff has been operating from a temporary location since then. The new office is located at 1141 Bayview Avenue, Bolton Building, Suite 402, Biloxi, MS. ?Our new facility will allow us to better serve the people of South Mississippi,? said Attorney General Jim Hood. ? I want the home repair fraud con artists to know we are here to stay.? The investigations through the Southern District Office have so far resulted in 63 Home Repair Fraud arrests.

Attorney General Hood and Grant Hedgepeth, Director of the Consumer Division for the Attorney General?s Office, cut the ribbon to signify the opening of the new office. An open house was held from Noon-2pm for the public and local law enforcement to tour the new facility and meet the staff. The event was followed by a meeting of the Gulf Coast Home Repair Fraud Task Force. The office is staffed with two criminal investigators and two support staff. A third investigator will soon be hired. Consumer complaints from the Southern District can be reported by calling 1-228-386-4400.
