Greenville Man Sentenced in Child Desertion Case

Jackson, Miss.- A Mississippi man has been sentenced for failure to pay court ordered child support, announced Attorney General Jim Hood.
Eunice Austin, age 54 of 805 South Colorado Street Greenville, MS, appeared today before Washington County Circuit Court Judge Margaret Carey McCray. Judge McCray ordered Bishop to pay $3,000 and ordered him into the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for five years suspended with post release supervision and non-adjudication. Bishop must also pay an additional $100 a month on top of his regular child support payments until the arrearage amount of $13,000 is paid in full.
“The Judge is trying to give this defendant another chance to do the right thing, pay what he owes and avoid jail time,” said Attorney General Jim Hood.
Child Desertion Unit Director, Special Assistant Attorney General Deshun T. Martin, handled this case for the Attorney General’s Office.
