Jackson, MS- A former employee of a Jackson nursing home is facing charges of embezzlement, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.
Investigators with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Attorney General’s Office arrested Kristi Johnson, age 30, of Port Gibson Street in Raymond, yesterday on one count of Embezzlement (Miss Code Ann 97-23-19). She was booked into the Hinds County jail in Raymond.
Johnson, a former employee of Compere’s Nursing Home in Jackson, was indicted by a Hinds County Grand Jury and is alleged to have embezzled funds from the resident trust fund account in the amount of approximately $12, 673.75.
If convicted, Johnson faces imprisonment up to ten years and/or a $10,000 fine.
As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The investigation and prosecution of this case is being handled by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Attorney General’s Office.
