Address Confidentiality Program

The Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) helps victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking, who have moved to a new location unknown to their abuser or stalker, keep their new location confidential from their abuser or stalker. While not a witness protection program or a total guarantee of safety, the ACP along with other components of an overall safety plan can help victims as they work to increase their overall safety.

How it Works

When a victim becomes an ACP participant they are provided a substitute address designated by the Office of the Attorney General. The ACP participant may then request that a state or local government agency use the substitute address for services such as obtaining a Mississippi driver license, registering to vote, or enrolling in a public school. If a public records request is made, the ACP participant?s actual residence remains confidential, while the substitute address becomes the address of public record.

Mail received at the substitute address is processed by the Office of the Attorney General and all first class mail is forwarded to an ACP participant at their residential address.

The ACP is a free program administered by the Mississippi Office of the Attorney General for eligible victims residing in Mississippi.

How to Apply

In order to request this service, the victim is required to meet with an ACP Certified Application Assistant (CAA). CAAs are located in domestic violence shelters and rape crisis centers. To find your nearest CAA, please refer to the domestic violence shelter and rape crisis center links below. NOTE: The Office of the Attorney General cannot accept applications directly from a person wishing to enroll in the program.
